Counterpoint 1: people should not feel pressured to participate in a 2-party system.

Counterpoint 2: electoral college

Counterpoint 3: I voted for Kodos

I’d like to thank Johnson supporters for handing the vote to Clinton in Colorado.

And Stein supporters for having no noticeable effects on the election whatsoever.

Counterpoint: You live in Washington, which isn’t important in the election. Also, Clinton lost by 22,000 is Florida, around Johnson and Stein combined.

Don’t you put that evil on me. I got physically ill when I got to the finalize ballot screen with either of the main candidates.

I’m just saying that people who voted for third party candidates do not deserve any ire. If you don’t like how the election turned out, try aiming that anger towards the millions of Americans who actually voted for Trump. Or the millions of Americans who chose NOT to vote.

Kinja'd!!!4

Because:

1) This is a democracy: people vote for who they believe will represent them. As much as we don’t like it, that’s how this works. If you want to be mad, be mad at the electoral college and how the system is set up.

2) How do you know the people, if not given a choice of a third party candidate, would vote for the one you prefer, and not the other (or not even vote)?

It’s about the same. If all 3rd party voters went main parties there’d be no difference.

No, fuck that. Don’t want Trump elected? Don’t nominate someone so universally reviled. If we keep shaming third party voters, we’re never going to escape the quagmire of 2-sided division.

You do realize that a lot of people who normally would have voted Republican voted for Johnson, right? And that helped Hillary, correct?

I understand that argument, but I couldn’t vote for either of them. They are terrible people that have no place on the ballot. I just don’t understand how the people who hated Trump enough to vote for Hillary or vice versa didn’t see that there was another option. I believe most of their votes were mostly people hating the other candidate. Those votes could have gone to Johnson or Stein and we may have actually had a level headed person in the office. And the “3rd party votes don’t count” argument is because people keep saying that and allowing their vote to be swayed. If those people that felt they should vote 3rd, but didn’t because they allowed peer pressure to stop them from voting the way they should have.
